This session provides HR professionals with an innovative lens on organizational culture and employee engagement by introducing the strategic application of play, humor, and light-heartedness in the workplace. Grounded in principles of neuroscience, adult development, and social psychology, the presentation explores how these elements can be used as intentional tools to enhance workplace satisfaction, improve team dynamics, and foster a psychologically safe environment.
Participants will learn to apply the frameworks of Trickle-down Silliness and Professional Playfulness—two original concepts that illustrate how leadership behaviors rooted in authenticity and levity can positively influence employee morale and organizational performance.

The session description aligns with SHRM’s Behavioral Competency of Leadership & Navigation and Relationship Management, and contributes to the Employee & Labor Relations and Organizational Effectiveness & Development Knowledge Domains. It also meets HRCI's criteria by focusing on workplace culture and its measurable impact on employee productivity, engagement, and retention.

Specifically, this session addresses the following objectives:
1. Assess the Impact of Play and Humor on Workplace Culture
Analyze how purposeful use of levity can influence team cohesion, employee engagement, and organizational effectiveness.
2. Apply the Concepts of Trickle-down Silliness and Professional Playfulness
Learn actionable methods for embedding these frameworks into HR-led initiatives, leadership development, and change management strategies.
3. Redefine the Role of Joy in the Professional Workplace
Reevaluate traditional concepts of professionalism and explore how incorporating elements of play can improve employee well-being and productivity.
